People are sharing stories about being mistaken for an employee

“I just ignored her, went to the bathroom, I came out, the woman was waving at me, and I responded awkwardly.
“She replied, ‘Hello, can you come here?!’ I looked around awkwardly and walked over. She continued to call me rude for ignoring her. It wasn’t until then that I realized she thought I was working there. .
“I laughed and before I had time to explain, she asked the manager. She was very loud at this point, so another waiter came up and she didn’t explain and asked the manager. So the waiter went to pick him up. He left.
“She really didn’t understand how he would know me without me working there. It went on and on and she finally accepted.”
Woman: What?Of course I have the correct number! When can I pick up my husband?I’m waiting outside, it’s cold!
Woman: I want to talk to the doctor directly.let me pass.I will sue you.
Woman: I’ve had enough!I come in now.I will complain directly to the doctor about you![nagging.]
“The new patient’s mother was very emotional after they had completed the operation and said the room was too noisy and too annoying for her baby. The baby seemed fine, not disturbed, in pain or looking stressed. She insisted There is a private room.
“I went in and out of the room to get something for my son. So she cornered me, assuming I was the person in charge here, and made too much noise to the other child (my son) and her child needed peace and quiet ( Good luck in any hospital room lol). Her insurance pays for a private room (everything is fine except it’s a full house) and I need to get it to work.
“The look on her face when I told her I don’t work here and the kid in the next bed is my son! She looked a little shy but mostly angry. I know it’s a stressful time, but this Women’s rights are ridiculous.”
“It went on for a while and I tried to ignore her but I could tell she was working hard.
Karen: You should eat in the back of the kitchen, where you belong. It’s disrespectful to the customer and you’re taking a table where they could have eaten.
“She blushed and glared again, then rushed to the manager, who had to tell her twice that I didn’t work there.
“I took off my earphones and she asked me for a train ticket to Brighton. I was like, ‘I’m sorry honey, you need a train employee. I’m a passenger.’
“This was supposed to be the end of the story, but no, she then stuffed £10 into my jacket pocket and walked away with her friends, saying, ‘Okay, we’ll tell them on the other end that he won’t. Gave us a ticket but they could see from the camera that we paid him to travel!
“As she moved them violently, I told her, ‘I don’t work here.’ She replied, ‘I don’t know, how would I know? You should do this anyway.”
“I replied, ‘You should put my folds away because I don’t work here and don’t put the cart there. Find another place instead of scolding strangers.’
“She replied, ‘I’m going to talk to management.’ Never had I laughed harder than when I drove past the entrance and saw the woman and a man who looked like a manager standing there angrily pointing at me already.”
“I tried to explain calmly, no, her kids can’t ride my horse, and no, I can’t let her ride any other horse in the barn.
“It doesn’t matter what I say, I can’t convince her that I don’t work there and I can’t ‘let [her] daughter ride.’”
“Clyde wasn’t fully trained because I got him recently. He was very young and inexperienced. I wouldn’t even let the kid groom him because he likes to bite. The kid started trying to dodge me and touch His me grabbed the child by the shoulders and pushed her back gently, really worried that Clyde would bite her.
“The woman gasped and screamed, ‘My daughter has the right to touch that horse, she’s probably better at horses than you! Also, you’re just a worker, so you don’t dare to push my child.’
“It took me by surprise. ‘Your daughter won’t touch my horse; he’s not fit for a baby and could hurt your daughter. Your daughter doesn’t know more than me, I’ve been riding for 15 years, and I don’t work here !!! Leave me alone! I shouted.
“At this point my horse was starting to freak out and I turned around and took him back to his stable to calm him and myself.
“Some barn staff came over and tried to assess what was going on. The woman kept screaming at me but I couldn’t deal with her anymore and walked away because the staff had occupied her.
“My friends (who work there) told me they had to threaten to call the police to let her go because she kept asking her kids to ride every horse she saw. She’s also banned from the stables now, so at least , happy ending?”
“I pulled it back. She said, ‘I’ve been waiting for this!’ It occurred to me that she thought I was her delivery boy. I politely told her I wasn’t her delivery boy. She looked confused, Say, “Are you sure?you look like one.”
“At this point I just wanted her to let go of my bag, and her boyfriends came over and told me to stop embarrassing her and hand over her food.
“So I spelled it out for them: ‘I’m not your food delivery driver. This is my food. I’m a guest at this hotel.’ I yanked the bag away from her, and as I entered the hotel, I looked By the time she took out her phone and said, ‘I’m calling [delivery service] and tell them you’re an asshole – I want my money back!’
“I didn’t think about it too much because I was obviously not an employee. The employee was wearing a black shirt and a blue vest with the store logo. I was wearing a grey Guinness tee.
“The lady walked past me and came to the end of the aisle. I’m not sure if she wanted me to take her ‘hints’, but she turned towards me, nearly hit me with her trolley, and said: ‘You Wouldn’t it be too much of a hassle to put down your phone and do your work? When you see a customer in need, you should help them. This is what you get paid for!”
Lady: Excuse me?Well, you should be.I’ve been looking around for disposable plates and plates and no one is willing to help! Why is it so hard for you guys to do your job?!
me: I don’t work here.I’m waiting for my car to be serviced [sign to the "Tire and Battery Center" sign].If you’re looking for plates, they’re up two or three aisles.
“At that time, she even deliberately looked at the clothes I was wearing. She resisted the frustration and embarrassment, said thank you and walked away.”
“We generally get a lot of questions from people, so I’m used to being stopped on duty in public. I said, ‘Yes, ma’am, and turned around to find a middle-aged lady, Orange, standing next to me.
“My partner and I just exchanged confused looks. We were wearing T-shirts and hats that said ‘fire department’, bright green radios on our belts, and baggy yellow pants with reflective stripes.
“She was a little annoyed at my silence and held up an orange in front of me. ‘Oranges? These? Do you have any more? Or just these?’
“She didn’t say anything, just motioned to my partner, who was dressed exactly like me and was standing next to me. ‘Excuse me, do you still have any oranges?’
“She raised her hands in exasperation and walked in the opposite direction. We left the produce department to buy chicken, only to be found by her at the door of the store.
“Still trying to be polite, I explained (for the fourth time, to anyone scoring) that we don’t work at the grocery store because we’re firefighters.
“I was walking to the back to pick them up, looking at the catastrophic condition of the store and the many people asking for help, when a regular customer who used to annoy me pointed at me (at least 20 feet away) and yelled: ‘You work here!”
“He was shocked, but a second later I laughed with ketchup and told him next time, he probably didn’t want someone who had been sitting in the bar until he got there to get him something.
“I don’t want to assume why he made the assumption, but I’m not sad about him eating chips. I think he knows what he did because not only did he not complain, he apologized.”
Me: Sorry ma’am, I don’t work here, but I think they are on the first floor.(“Sorry, ma’am, I don’t work here, but I think they’re on the first floor.”)
“We all laughed and she commented on how beautiful my dress looked. It made me blush a little (I was conscious) and then she thanked me for helping her.
“Another lady came up to me in a not-so-friendly way, asked me to buy her another coat with matching trousers of a certain size, asked why we mixed suits, and specifically asked me to call her Fart locker room because she doesn’t know why we only have two open during the pandemic.
“I explained to her that 1) we’re in a pandemic, 2) I don’t know anything about suits, I just wear them, and 3) I don’t work there.
“At this point, one of the actual workers saw what was happening and intervened. We both happened to be in the locker room (different booths) and she started talking on the phone how a ‘rude employee’ refused to help her.
“When I finished trying on the new suit, she was talking to the manager about me. The manager was like, ‘Who is that guy TF?’ I just smiled and paid for my dress.”
AG: Are you stupid? We start at 7!On the first day, you are already late!Get out of here – you’re fired!
